The distance between the ground and the base is great since it highly reduces foot traffic. The vertical pole's height allows for the umbrella to be sturdy enough.

I love the Round 2 Base. It has a wide and flat base, which makes it different from most bases in the market. The knobs have had no problem working, and they tighten well on the umbrella base.

The Round 2 Base has been very carefully crafted for beauty, functionality, and durability. I wouldn't encourage you to use it on windy days, especially if it's supporting a big umbrella.
